February Nail Art Challenge-Simple

Today's theme was "simple". So that's...  interesting.
I wantex to try out a new polish, Color Club's Berry and Bright. It is bbeautiful and is one of those colors that "glows". I never usually wear reds, probably because there's just something so typical about them I guess? But I love wearing red, and should definitely get more red polishes (Zoya Sam and Blair, I'm looking at you).
Forever 21 has a bunch of nail art wheels now, which is awawesome, and I had to pick this one up. I was originally going to leave this as a plain red mani, but then the gold looked so nice with the red, and I just love studs sooo... yup. No regrets. Except the diamond doesn't lay completely flat on my very rounded nails. Oh well. Top coat don't fail me now.
This is probably the best pic I could get of it. GLOWY. I really need a daylight bulb. Even for my non-desk lamp. I can't see shit when I'm doing my makeup. It's an issue.

February Nail Art Challenge-Triple Threat

One last loophole post. I combined day "floral" and "studs" because they worked so well together.  And it matched my outfit coincidentally, so bam, three days in one. Maybe it's "cheating" maybe it was just fate.
See, the floral and studs ccomplete each other. Plus the glitter made a nice accent. It took me so long to decide what to do on those three nails. I almost did stripes in defeat, but thenit came to me. GLITTER. Always the right answer.
The green is Sinful Colors Mint Apple. This color you guys. It's amazing. Formula can be a bit draggy but otherwise, it's flawless. The glitters are Sally Hansen Glitter Gun and Razzle Dazzle. I hate that those glitters were LE but I *really* hate the bar glitters. You see that sole black bar glitter on my pinkie? HATE IT. I know some of you probably love them, but ugh. Bar glitter.

The floral nails had a base of OPI Don't Pretzel My Buttons and the flowers are Sinful Colors Aubergine and Soul Mate. Easy Going (pictured above) was used for swirling the petals. And lastly the green is Color Club Artsy Craftsy.
Totally coincidental ootd.

February Nail Art Challenge- Pastel & Hearts

So I may have combined two days into one look. And completely skipped "XOXO". But I think it was worth it. It is the "I have a life challenge " right? (Though maybe it should be the "lol loopholes" challenge.)
Pastel tie-dye ggradient background using Revlon Charmed (lavender), Minted (mint, obviously), NYC Skyline Blue, and Sinful Colors Unicorn (yellow), and Soul Mate (pink) mixed with white. The stamping plate was actually from the brand Fing'rs and can be found
at Walmart for about $6-7. 10/10 would stamp again.
And here we see some super dry grandma fingers. Oops.

February Nail Art Challenge- Dots

Technically it's "polka" dots but let me tell you I *HATE* polka dots. So I used... a form of dots. To create a ruffled mani. Loophole? Nahhh..

I used three Sinful Colors polishes: Aubergine (dark pink), Soul Mate (medium pink), and Easy Going (pale, white-ish pink).  I'm also just noticing the dents on my pinkie  Where did you nuisances come from?? Speaking of nuisances, I just cut my nails and THEY'RE SO SHORT. I DON'T KNOW WHY I DID IT BUT I HATE IT SO MUCH. I NEED MY GLAMOROUS YET MILDLY IMPRACTICAL LONG NAILS BACK STAT. I can't deal with nubs. I cannot.

Also dog hair. Everywhere. Story of my life.

February Nail Art Challenge Day 1- Hearts

I saw an Instagram post about this February nail art challenge and the fact that it wasn't an every-day-of-the-month type of deal really sold me. So to hopefully have more than three posts this year, I'm going to be doing said challenge. Woo!

Hearts. Oh hearts. Cliche yet perfectly appropriate. I found some heart glitter at the dollar store and I knew I'd find the perfect use for it eventually. Also these pictures are worse than usual because I'm not home right now. (Not that I generally have very quality pictures but hey.)

The saturation is really off between these pics because I'm unprofessional.  But you get the idea. Hearts and hexes over Zoya Casey. This color is everything I dreamed it would be and more. The perfect off-black plum.
Hopefully the next day's pictures will be a bit more presentable. Hopefully. Until then, I suppose!

A Very Sparkly Christmas

Merry Christmas!  I have a simple, yet very sparkly look for this holiday. I didn't originally want to go the traditional red and green route, but y'know. Do it for the sparkly. I used China Glaze Ruby Pumps (an all time fave) and Zoya Giovanna (a new fave, and one of my first Zoya polishes). The glitter actually came in little bottles at the dollar store.

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween everyone! I've got a quick update here. I'm posting this as I'm catching up on American Horror Story and digging into some candy (we bought three bags but didn't get any trick-or-treaters. I'm not terribly disappointed  ;) ).

Candy corn, (smudgy
: c) bones, spiderwebs and gradients. I'm alright with them, but that smudge kills me. Oh well!

Candy shot! Yum. ^_^

July 4, 2013

Happy 4th of July! Also hello blog, it's been a while..

Ha so yes let's just say I was lazy during the school year and never felt like updating? Because that's exactly what happened, but let's move past that and jump right back in? Excellent!

And what better day to resume blogging than good ole' Independence Day? A *huge* nail art day. My design is very unoriginal and super sloppy but I slapped it on in about ten minutes over an old mani (actually I had flower petals on my nails over a white base and just pulled the petals off-you'll see them later, promise).
Without further ado, here are my stripes and.. well mostly stripes. I haven't accumulated any star shaped glitters even though it's pretty high on my "to-do" list of polishes. But I've seen a few people use China Glaze's Ruby Slippers (I think that's what it's called? I know the "Ruby" part anyhow) and I have been DYING to get it. I saw it at a Sally's like a year ago and regret not buying it, I don't know why I didn't.  Oh, I said "without further ado" like a paragraph ago, didn't I? Well, for real now:

These pictures are a bit huge, sorry, I uploaded them directly from my phone. It has a better resolution than my camera, how.. sad, really. My dear camera is quite old though. I made myself a homemade lightbox and it looks like crap but you know, gets the job done. Only problem is my lamp has a really warm toned yellow light. NOT WHAT I NEEDED. But you know, I only just kinda found it in the garage and it's all I got, so you gotta do what you gotta do. Lightbox pics will probably be pretty sporadic though. I'll explain later, who even cares.

Like I said, they are very messy, but I did them really quickly, alright? I like the overall design anyways.

Colors Used:
  • Sally Hansen Insta-Dri (it's the white, but my bottle doesn't have a name sticker)
  • Sinful Colors- Gogo Girl
  • Love & Beauty by Forever 21- Blue (yes, that's really the name. "Blue" wow yea real creative there, 421)

Robin's Egg Nails

Today I bring a look I did ages and ages and ages ago and just never got around to posting. So seems to be a common theme.
I remember being so thrilled wearing this look. And, looking back to the pictures, I am still thrilled with it. Robin eggs? Always great!

Avon- Vintage Boutique Swatch

Today I bring to you a polish I am absolutely in love with. I got this polish about a year ago and I have been trying to save it as long as possible. Yes, I could just buy more, but I always feel like I should save every bottle. It;s kind of dumb, but still.
Anyways: Vintage Boutique, from Avon

Grunge Nails

After a short hiatus born out of sheer laziness, I finally bring to you a post. I've had the pictures for these (and so, so many others I have to get to) for absolutely ages.

Duochrome Week: Day 5- Love & Beauty Blue/Green

As the first Duochrome Week comes to an end, we part with a recently reviewed polish: Love & Beauty's Blue/Green. I want to rename this so badly, but I can't think of a well-fitting name. But anyways, this polish really surprised me. I kinda used it as a last resort, but I am so so glad that I did.

Duochrome Week: Day 4-China Glaze Awakening

This polish has popped up here before. Not too long ago, really. I used it in my Violet day for the 31 Day Challenge, and it took on a whole different look then than it does now. It's a versatile polish that I am happy to show today, this time over a gold base instead of black. Here is China Glaze's Awakening.

Duochrome Week: Day 3- Essie Shine of the Times & China Glaze Smoke and Ashes

I'm not actually entirely sure if either of these polishes counts as a duochrome. You see, I originally planned on using Smoke and Ashes because it looks like it has duochrome shimmer in the bottle... but on the nail, it just falls flat. And I'm pretty sure Shine of the Times is a holo flakie buuuuut just in the context of this post, we're going to say that these both classify under the theme of changing to at least two different colors at some angle. Alright?

Duochrome Week: Day 2-Paying With Platinum

So I'm behind a day, but it's alright you know, I can catch up tomorrow. Just.. try not to expect too much promptness. But back to Duochrome Week! Today I have a polish that I've had for forever, but haven't tried because for some reason I thought that it wasn't going to look as good on the nail as it did in bottle. I don't know why I thought that, but for the longest time I did. And I regret that. Because it is amazing.

Duochrome Week! Day 1: China Glaze, Reggae to Riches

I have some very exciting news. As of this day, the third week of September, it is officially Duochrome Week. Why? Because duochromes are awesome and deserve their own week. It'll go from today (Monday) until Friday, featuring a different duochrome (obviously) each day. Should be fun!

We start off this marvelous week with a polish that my mom bought, actually. I've wanted to try it out for a while, but it's not a shade I really am fond of wearing. But I'd hear such excellent reviews of it, I just had to try it (and coincidentally, it's the polish that inspired Duochrome Week).

Forever 21/Love & Beauty Polish Swatches

So I finally am bringing to you the swatches from the Forever 21 nail polishes. There are six shades here: Brown/Gold, Sunset Gold, Baby Pink, Natural/Pink, Light Green, and Blue/Green. The names are horrible. Descriptive, I guess, but horrible nonetheless. I put two colors on per hand, because I had six, and using that much acetone didn't appeal to me. Anyways, without further ado, let's get on to these colors.

From front to back: Brown/Gold, Sunset Gold, Blue/Green.

From front to back: Light Green, Natural/Pink, Baby Pink

Fiery Gradient

Today I have a nice gradient to show. To say that I am completely in love with it is an understatement. I've been wearing it for about four, five days now (the longest I've worn the same look since probably June!), and I still catch myself staring. Without further rambling on my part, here is my fire-inspired gradient:

31 Day Nail Challenge: Day 31-Recreate Your Favorite Challenge

Sooo this is a day late. Heh, my bad. I was actually out though, not just procrastinating (for once). It's September, man, how did that happen?!? I was not ready for September. But back to the challenge. This day... was kind of a boring theme. I really wanted to use a few new polishes, and they happened to both be purples, so I made some purple skittles! (Obviously recreating the Violet day challenge.)
